Keteke Ghana’s Humanitarian Trip to Klikor, Volta Region

Image
Keteke Ghana paid a week-long visit to Klikor in the Volta Region of Ghana as part of its humanitarian activities. The GIJ based club left Accra on May 23, 2017 to support and donate stationery items to two schools in Klirkor; Akatsavakpor Basic School and Atsiaklorbor M/A Basic School. Keteke Ghana also provided clothes, shoes and other materials to inhabitants of these two communities. Aside the donation, the group organized a health screening exercise in collaboration with the Ghana Health Services and it attracted a lot of people to participate. This trip provided an opportunity for me to visit Togo for the Very first time in my life. Meanwhile, it was my first entry into the Volta Region. Truly, the experience from the outreach was a nice one and I learned a lot on volunteerism and its essence. Volta Region is a nice place to live.

Accra Book Campaign at Mamprobi Cluster of Schools

Image
The 2016/2017 Level 100C class at the Ghana Institute of Journalism was tasked by their Creative Writing Lecturer, Mr. David Apawu, to creatively write and publish story books and/or poems. These books were later donated to the Mamprobi Cluster of Schools in Accra on April 13, 2017. The idea of this exercise was to imbibe in students, the culture of reading and writing at all times since it has several benefits attached. I was privileged to have contributed my quota in making the activity a successful one. Characterised with joy and hard-work, the class was able to engage students at Mamprobi Cluster of Schools with reading and dance competition, spelling competition, and much more. Remarkably, I was part of the Team and this was my very time embarking on a volunteering mission upon entering the Tertiary as a fresher. The group, after engaging the students in their various classes donated to the School, which stationery and other relevant materials for teaching and learning. Meanwhile, Gabriel Obodai Torgbor-Ashong of Metro TV fame, who doubles as a founding member was available to take coverage after an initial ‘expose’ of school’s situation.
